One time, at peace-camp, I saw a photo of Ghandi digging through a trash can with little bits of bloody toilet paper all over his face. There was no bike to be seen, though. Just an awaiting limo with a driver dressed in snake-skin. He looked a little thin.
where was that picture taken from... the word "scavenging" mentioned here was actually intended to show that despite his name and popularity as a national leader, Mahatma was a down-to-earth person. he cleaned up the toilets at his ashram all by himself, which would be a rare sight in the new world we live in where there are servants or maids for every petty thing that one could do by him/herself. i suggest you to read " my experiments with truth" written by Gandhiji himself.
the message that he wanted to convey was simple enough- all men are born equal, and are to be treated equal. his ideologies are still followed by indians and many foreigners as well who were inspired by it.
